Get your Whites Whiter!

My white clothes look dull and dingy. Most of the labels say "NO Chlorine Bleach" - is there another way to whiten them?

There are many reasons for whites to become dull. A very common factor is hard water. The trace elements in the water can prevent soap from lathering properly and the residue can leave a dull or gray appearance. Check with your local utility to see if this is a concern. For slightly hard water, it is possible to overcome the problem of siding, by simply adding more detergent.

You can try an all fabric bleach (Bleach for un-bleachable), or an oxygen bleach, but always test for color fastness on the clothing, and add the bleach to the soap and water, BEFORE adding the clothing. Even these 'safe' bleaches can cause damage if poured in concentrate, directly onto wet clothing.

You might also try soaking in a solution of water and lemon juice overnight before washing. Then add this soak water into the wash water with the regular detergent when washing.

The final tip would be to hang these articles to dry in the sun. The sun is an excellent natural bleaching tool, which can actually even lighten some stains to the point they are invisible. The other huge benefit of air drying, along with the fact it is free, is that stained clothing will not have the stain 'set', whereas a tumble dryer gets so hot, that the stains are baked into the fibers.

Magic Wand: How Hackers Make Use

A deejay in the Netherlands uses his to mix techno music at dance parties. A medical student in Italy has reprogrammed his to help analyze the results of CT scans. And a Los Angeles software engineer has found a way to get his to help vacuum the floor. The high-tech device in each case: the remote control from a $250 videogame console.

Since Nintendo Co.'s Wii landed in stores in November, it has become one of the game industry's biggest hits, selling more than two million consoles in the U.S. Many stores can't keep the console in stock, and it fetches nearly twice its retail price on eBay. One of the major drivers of the Wii's popularity is its remote control, which fans call the Wii-mote. Unlike past remotes, it is motion sensitive and can detect when a player waves it to one side or tilts it forward or back.

The Wii-mote is becoming a cult object for hackers, with gadget geeks re-engineering the device to do all sorts of things having nothing to do with playing videogames. To repurpose the Wii-mote, they download free software from one of a number of Web sites and then tweak that code to assign a specific command to each movement of the device. In the end, the remote takes the place of a computer mouse or keyboard. Waving the Wii-mote sends a message wirelessly to the computer, which then communicates with whatever object the hacker is trying to control.

Software engineer Chris Hughes has tinkered with almost everything in his Los Angeles home, from adding more storage capacity to his TiVo digital video recorder to changing the combination on the keyless entry to his Ford Explorer. When a friend at a Christmas party suggested he find a way to get his Wii-mote to control his Roomba robot vacuum cleaner, Mr. Hughes worked through the night tailoring the software code. Source

Akon Molests 14 Year Old Girl On Stage

VIEW THE VIDEO-April 19, 2007. A video of Akon dancing provocatively with a young lady has begun making its way around the internet. But not is all fun and games in the video (shown below).

MediaTakeOut.com has learned that the girl getting "freaked" in the video may only be 14 years old.

And that's not all. MediaTakeOut.com spoke to a person claiming to be the child's guardian - and she's furious. According to the woman, the young girl was plucked from the audience by Akon's security and pushed up on stage.

The woman explains, "When she went up [on stage], Akon started throwing her around like a doll ... and made all kinds of sexual gestures to her. That̢۪s not for a grown man to do to a child." The lady continues, "The man could have killed her - you should have seen her when she [came] home. She was covered in bruises."

The woman claims to have contacted the authorities in Trinidad, where the concert took place. No word on what, if any, other actions they plan on taking against Akon

Developing...

Fashion Break!

Lies, Lies, Lies

* Nice girls don't wear white after Labor Day.
* You shouldn't wear suede shoes in summer or patent leather in winter.
* Handbags have to match your outfit.
* Black is boring.
* If you wear two pieces that are both navy, the colors have to match.
(It's all but impossible.)

The 7 Deadly Shopping Sins

* Wearing lace-up shoes--you'll double your time in the changing room.
* Spending more than you should on trendy items. If you absolutely must have
that silver lame blouse, set a limit before you get to the store.
* Buying on impulse just because something is on sale.
* Using a credit card when you can spare the cash.
* Shopping without a list, even if it's just in your head.
* Looking like a schlump when you shop. If you don't put some effort into your
hair and makeup, you'll feel like nothing looks good on you.
* Shopping with your husband. Why torture one another?

Just Say No

* Impossibly trendy jewelry like nose and navel rings
* See-through clothes
* Extremely high heels
* Fake Chanel anything
* Baby-doll dresses
* Slouchy socks
* Huge shoulder pads
* Fishnet stockings
* Ankle bracelets under pantyhose
* Baggy sweatsuits
* Aprons, unless they're in the kitchen
* Thigh-high skirts
* The schoolgirl look
* Bra tops
* Socks and sneakers with a suit
* Ultra-cropped tops. If your belly button shows, skip it
* High heels with jeans
* Sunglasses at night or indoors

Remember The Subway Superman

The inside of Wesley Autrey’s brand-new four-door Chrysler Sebring smells of aftershave, and the CD player is blasting The Best of the Gap Band. We’re squinting straight into a blinding rush-hour sunset, hurtling west on the Cross-Bronx Expressway, out over the George Washington Bridge, on our way to see Jason Kidd and the Nets get clobbered by Allen Iverson and the Nuggets. Wesley is behind the wheel; in the back is his 15-year-old nephew Elias, a basketball fan whom everyone calls La-la and who is glad tonight to be in on his uncle’s good fortune (if not his uncle’s eighties sound explosion). The car is a gift to Wesley from Chrysler, a loaner until he gets the 2007 Jeep Patriot he was promised in January on the stage of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The tickets are a gift, too, from the Nets—season tickets for two years. When you’re the Subway Superman, some people just like giving you things.

Within

(A-Poem)

Take sometime out of your busy life
Or not so busy life
and reflect on where you came
from and where you are right now
...shouldn't you be happy that you have certain things in your life
..like a family that loves you ..or a job , or your hands and feet ,,,
or just something to eat..
why be stress everyday or someday of your life?
And argue and fuse about stuff
Call some one today let them know you care,

Take time to love yourself,
because if you don't how can you love someone else?
Stop procrastinating and get stuff done that has been put aside for so long
enjoy your life for I believe you only have just one
and remember if you fall just get back up and dust off
because what wouldn't drown you will help you swim..
help you climb ,
but most of all help you within .

Virginia Tech Gunman:

Cho Seung-Hui, the Virginia Tech killer
IDENTITY OF THE VIRGINIA TECH GUNMAN: EAST ASIAN

FINAL UPDATE - April 17: (10:03 AM EST; 15:03 PM GMT) the killer has now been identified as Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old senior English major who was born in South Korea but had established US residence in Centerville, Virginia. He left a suicide note which investigators have now seized.

The Virginia Tech gunman has been described by witnesses as a 6 foot tall Asian (in American English this means from China, Japan or other parts of South East Asia) around 19 or 20 years old -- some reports are suggesting he was a student of nearby Radford University and on a rampage to kill his girlfriend who left him. Sources say Seung-Hui left behind a note, which has not been made public.

According to these unconfirmed reports, he first attacked her dorm room, and shot her roommate and a resident assistant. Two hours later, he was still looking for her in the Engineering building where he randomly shot a large number of people before finally turning the gun on himself.

The gunman's identity has become a major issue which explains why the authorities have not yet officially identified him even though they have no doubt had this information for several hours now. Every ethnicity, religious group, nationality and group you can think of is hoping that their group is not represented by this crazy killer, because there will more than likely be a sizeable wrath directed toward them by ignorant bigoted people and their agendas.

UPDATE 1 (8:09 pm EST; 1:09 AM GMT): News outlets have interviewed a student called Erin Sheehan who claims she was in the classroom where most of the students were shot. Sheehan confirms that the gunman was East Asian.

In a second press conference at 745 pm EST, authorities are "declining to release" the "preliminary information" that they obviously have about the identity of the gunman and the weapons involved. What is now clear is that there were two gunmen involved in the two different incidents. What is also clear is that the authorities are actively working on making up as many lies as possible to prevent them from looking like complete incompetents.

EMAIL IS NOT A SUFFICIENT FORM OF EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION

Students at the University were horrified to be notified of the first set of killings only 2 hours later via university email, which, unfortunately for the majority of the victims was exactly the time when the gunman struck again.

The officials in this situation, including the local police, Virginia Tech President Steger, and other individuals who played a huge role not only in failing to identify the larger threat after the first set of shootings in which the killer escaped and was not pursued by authorities, but also in failing to inform the campus until over 2 hours later -- and then only by email -- that shootings had occurred on campus and that a threat could possibly remain. Obviously, many people would have reconsidered going to class if they knew a killer was loose.

I wonder if Virginia Tech has ever heard of loudspeakers -- these simple devices tend to be more effective immediately than hinging peoples' lives on the hope that the entire campus will check its email at least once every two hours.

BOMB THREATS OVER THE LAST WEEK

There were at least 2 bomb threats against the university over the last week. And just over the summer, another gunman had attacked the campus. So the big question on many peoples' minds is, how much could have been done to prevent this violence? At the very least, it seems that the campus could have been much better protected from the second attack this morning.

My Heart

Is very heavy today, its filled with anger and sadness, for the victims in the Virginia Tech massacre, my thoughts and Prays goes out to them all.

WooHoo !! Its Friday

AWesome Right??...First off Let me give you this great recipe for Catfish Nuggets you got to tell me what you think about it .

40min 10 min prep

  • 2lb Catfish Nuggets
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups buttermilk (you can use regular or low fat)
  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • salt and pepper (or just use any seasonings you want)
  • oil
  1. Put oil in a skillet until it is halfway up or you can use a deep fryer, a deep fryer is actually best for these. Heat until hot or if using skillet use medium high heat.
  2. In a large bowl beat egg with a fork, add buttermilk to it. Beat again to incorporate.
  3. In another big bowl put cornmeal and seasonings to taste.
  4. Rinse nuggets and dip into milk mixture, depending on how many you have you could probably fit them all in at one time.
  5. Take a few out of the milk and dip in to the cornmeal, roll around to get it coated good, then put into oil.
  6. If using skillet put them in until skillet is full. fry 3 minutes, turn and fry another 2-3 minutes. If using a deep fryer fry 5 minutes, about halfway through stir them around to break up any that might have clumped together. They are done when golden brown and flake easily with a fork.
You can dip it in Tartar sauce and enjoy ...yummm!
