Power 105 pulls Reggae Carifest sponsorship

Hip-hop radio station Power 105 withdrew its sponsorship of Saturday's Reggae Carifest because two artists on the bill have used anti-gay language in their songs.

The two dancehall reggae artists, Buju Banton and Bounty Killer, have both drawn fire for their lyrics over the years. Banton's song "Boom Bye Bye" advocates burning and shooting gay men; Bounty Killer's song "Another Level" refers to drowning them.

Clear Channel, which owns Power 105 (WWPR/105.1 FM), quietly withdrew its support from the festival on Wednesday after receiving a call from The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (Glaad). Clear Channel did not issue a statement, but on Thursday a spokeswoman noted that Power 105 does not play Bounty Killer or Buju Banton. Dancehall Superstar Super Cat Evades Trinidad Police

“Man a bad man” or so the saying goes. Popularized in the 90’s by original dancehall bad man super Cat, the “original dondadda” left police authorities in the south Caribbean nation wondering of his whereabouts after a scuffled occurred between himself and the promoter of an event in the twin islands.

The fracas occurred before his appearance at the MOB II club in the Chaguramas province last Saturday night.

It is stated by sources out of Trindad and Tobago that the promoter named “Naipaul”, uttered a racial slur backstage and the wrath of the “Wild Apache” was only soothed after he slapped the promoter several times before pushing him to the floor.

Super Cat then fulfilled his contractual obligations and more by performing 30 minutes over his designated hour, and then quickly walked out the venue mid-performance, disappearing into an unmarked vehicle.

Customs officials confirmed his early morning departure from the island.

Despite his slick getaway, Police authorities stated that the promoter also a prominent business man in the island has not yet pressed charges.

Jimmy Fallon and his long-time girlfriend Nancy Juvonen got engaged over the weekend.

Amy Winehouse and husband Blake Fielder-Civil agreed to go into drugs rehab after seeing their dads nearly come to blows, friends said last night.

Blizzard Entertainment unveiled the new Starcraft II video game at the 2007 Blizzard Worldwide Invitational event in Seoul, South Korea. Starcraft II features new units and functionality for each race, upgrades to several familiar units, and a powerful 3D engine that supports explosive fast-paced combat between massive armies.


Rumor has it that StarCraft 2 wouldn't be out until the end of next year. My Question to Blizzard Entertainment ...is WHY? I've been such a big fan of this game for years,,,I'm so looking forward to this release.
